Getting paid by card (Stripe or Square)
Connecting Stripe or Square, what each status means, and who charges what.
Card payments let you take cards online and in person, deposits, pay links, no-show and late-cancellation fees, and tips. They're part of Solo and Studio. Cash and e-Transfer stay free and can be recorded any time.
Connecting
In Settings → Money → Card payments, choose one:
- Connect Stripe: sign in or create a Stripe account. Stripe needs a few details before you can take cards: who you are and where to pay you.
- Connect Square: sign in to your own Square account. It needs an active location in Canada.
If both are connected, Take cards through chooses which one new payments, deposits and fees go through. Refunds always go back through the company that took the payment.
What the status means
- Taking cards: all set.
- Taking cards · payouts pending: you can take cards; Stripe still needs details before it pays you out.
- Setup not finished: choose Finish setting up Stripe.
- Not connected, or Reconnect Square: connect again.
Fees
Stripe's or Square's own card fees apply. BeautyReso takes nothing from your payments, and the money goes straight to your Stripe or Square account.
If something goes wrong
- "You didn't allow BeautyReso on Square, so nothing was connected.": connect again and allow access.
- "Your Square account has no active location in Canada.": add one in Square, then reconnect.
- "Stripe needs a few more details": choose Finish setting up Stripe and complete Stripe's form.
