Deposits, paying up front and card on file
Choosing when clients pay, deposits, balances, and saving a card when they book.
Settings → Money → Deposits & partial payments sets when clients pay. These need card payments to be connected.
When clients pay
- At the appointment: nothing up front.
- Deposit when booking: the rest at the appointment. Choose a percentage or a fixed amount, and optionally Only new clients pay a deposit so regulars book without one.
- In full when booking: nothing to collect later.
- Client chooses: deposit or full.
Clients see exactly what they'll pay before they confirm.
Balances
- If a client pays part at checkout, the rest is due within a number of days you choose.
- No new bookings until a balance is paid stops clients who still owe you from booking again.
Card on file
Require a card to book: clients save a card when they book, even when nothing is paid then, so no-show and late-cancellation fees can be charged. The card is only charged under your cancellation policy. See Cancellations and no-shows.
Online bookings wait for payment
When a deposit or full payment is due, the booking is held for the client for a few minutes while they pay. It's only confirmed, and the confirmation email sent, once the payment goes through.
